Inter and Denzel Dumfries are getting closer to renewing the contract expiring on June 30, 2025. After the winter frictions between the club and the player’s entourage, the agreement seems to be a step away based on 4 million net per year and a new expiration date set around 2027 or 2028. The final handshake arrived in London, on the occasion of the friendly with Chelsea, when the sporting director Piero Ausilio met the player’s representatives.

However, according to Tuttosport, renewal does not automatically mean staying. Inter wants to close the deal first and foremost to avoid risking losing the player for nothing in a year, but rather to increase his value by postponing the expiration. Dumfries’ could therefore represent a possible transfer for summer 2025 and there’s a clue in this direction, also in the ongoing negotiation.

This is about the termination clause, an option strongly advocated by the agents of the ex-PSV. The figure could be set at 15-20 million, lower than the price that Inter would set for Dumfries in case of hypothetical exit, around 30 million euros.

The Turin newspaper is sure that behind this willingness there is a desire that has remained unchanged in Dumfries’ mind: the arrival in the Premier League. In the past months, there would have been an approach with Aston Villa, fresh from qualifying for the Champions League, but it did not turn into a concrete offer.
