The goal disallowed for Lauberbach in Venezia–Inter for an offside of just a few millimeters sparked an immediate reaction from Ivan Zazzaroni, who joked about the incident by comparing the situation to a long jump competition: the Venezia player is 1.94 meters tall, while his marker, Carlos Augusto, is only 1.84. A comment that drew criticism from numerous Inter fans.

Speaking on the Podcast Numer1 on YouTube, the journalist wanted to clarify the meaning of that joke. “I was bothered by the goal disallowed for offside against Venezia. Inter fans got angry but I just wanted to specify that I detest that kind of millimetric offside,” he said. “It was against IFAB, not against Inter.”

Zazzaroni then recalled that he had already expressed similar positions in the past on analogous situations, citing the case of Bonny’s offside. “It’s not like I write about everything every time,” he added, rejecting accusations of bias. On the subject of the rule, he also mentioned Wenger’s attempt to introduce the daylight solution, which was later rejected. “If you like these offsides, keep them,” he concluded. “I’m simply saying that for me, that’s not football. That post wasn’t against Inter, it was about 10-millimeter offsides.”
