The derby against Milan could represent the ideal moment for Dimarco to relaunch himself. According to the Corriere dello Sport, the Inter full-back has not yet shown the level he displayed last season, when he was voted the best player in the league with 6 goals and 18 assists.
The comparison with the start of last year is merciless: after 9 matchdays he had already scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists, dragging his teammates towards the title. This season, however, his only offensive contribution has been the assist for Lautaro in the match at San Siro against Napoli.
To complicate matters, Carlos Augusto is experiencing a diametrically opposite start to the season, strongly pushing behind the starter on the left flank. The internal competition therefore puts pressure on Dimarco’s position, which remains under review by the technical management.
Milan is the team Dimarco has faced most often in his career, as many as 18 times, with two goals scored between Serie A 2024/25 and the 2022/23 Italian Super Cup. In the background, the issue of contract renewal remains open, with negotiations still on hold. For these colors – worn since he was a child – Dimarco wants to give his all and reestablish the hierarchy on the left flank.
