Javier Zanetti’s mission to finalize Inter’s next summer signing has officially begun. After getting the green light from the Oaktree fund, the Nerazzurri vice president personally took charge of negotiations for a deal that, apart from rejuvenating the squad, would provide Simone Inzaghi with one of the league’s best dribblers.

As Tuttosport reported in today’s edition, Zanetti was spotted yesterday at the Sinigallia stadium attending the match between Como and Venezia. Specifically, the former Argentine captain was photographed in the stands chatting with his longtime friend and former teammate, Pablo Paz. Indeed, he is the father of Nico Paz, a young Argentine attacking midfielder who has been on Inter’s radar for a few months.

In reality, discussions between Zanetti and Pablo Paz have been underway for around three months, as they wait to see whether Real Madrid will exercise the buyout clause in their possession. For this reason, as the club awaits clarity regarding who they’ll have to negotiate with, Inter has chosen to immediately work on persuading Nico Paz to favor the move.
