Feyenoord approaches the Champions League clash against Inter with an injury situation that is far from clear. According to the Dutch portal 1908.nl, the most worrying news comes from Moder: the Polish midfielder suffered a physical setback during Friday’s training session, just days after his return from a long absence, and is therefore left out of the squad for the Eredivisie match against Fortuna Sittard.

“Unfortunately, he had a problem during training. We have to wait to understand exactly what it is,” explained Van Bronckhorst to ESPN. The Dutch coach especially emphasized the mental impact: “Mentally, it is definitely a blow,” he added, referring to the difficult months the player has already gone through. For now, both the severity of the problem and the recovery time remain unknown.

St. Juste also needs to be monitored: the defender missed the game against Fortuna Sittard due to a physical issue that emerged in the previous match against PSV. Van Bronckhorst had stated he hoped for a quick return, but could not guarantee his presence on Tuesday evening in Rotterdam. The recovery could happen against Inter or in the following match against Heerenveen.

On the other hand, there are encouraging signs from Nelson, Van Persie, and Smal: all three are getting closer to returning to availability. The match against Fortuna came too soon in their recovery process, but the Dutch club aims to have at least some of them back for the Champions League. Speaking about Van Persie, Van Bronckhorst said: “I hope he can return next week, against Inter or later against Heerenveen.”

Feyenoord arrives at the European fixture after a 1-1 home draw against Fortuna Sittard. The final training session in the coming hours will be decisive in determining who will be available on Tuesday evening.
