With the creation of an Under 23 team playing in Serie C, many young Inter players ended up playing for this second team, but for others, it was preferred to send them on loan to a higher division. As always, there are many young Nerazzurri talents who are growing elsewhere.
We have reached the new edition of INTERISTI ON THE ROAD, a column curated by the editorial staff of Passione Inter that analyzes the performances of Nerazzurri players on loan. Some play in Serie A, others in Serie B, plus a few profiles who are playing abroad. Below is the full update.
ALEKSANDAR STANKOVIC
A profile that draws a lot of interest from fans is Aleksandar Stankovic, who moved to Bruges and immediately shone in both the Belgian league and the Champions League. Despite his young age, the Serbian midfielder has already stood out for his maturity and ability to manage the tense moments of a match. So far, he has played 12 matches between the league and Champions and has also recorded a goal and an assist. He boasts excellent physical condition, having always been available to his coach, who never wants to do without Dejan’s second son. For the 2005-born player, there is also the matter of future management of the buy-back clause in favor of Inter.
VALENTIN CARBONI
After a high-quality start with two starts at the end of August in Serie A and even a goal in the Coppa Italia, the Argentine playmaker has lost ground in Vieira‘s pecking order at Genoa. Valentin Carboni has in fact made six league appearances in total, but the last 4 have all been from the bench. The qualities of the 2005-born player are especially known for his dribbling and vision of play, but he would need to play regularly to recover from the serious injury he suffered a year ago in Marseille.
EBENEZER AKINSAMIRO
Someone who is instead making a big impression with Pisa in Serie A is Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, who after a couple of games at the start of the season coming off the bench, is now always a starter. Gilardino never does without the Nigerian midfielder (whose detailed numbers we analyzed here). So far, he has 5 league appearances and is still looking for his first Serie A goal, but he has shown he can compete at the highest level – even from a physical standpoint – against opponents more experienced than him.
Benjamin Pavard
Abroad, there is also Benjamin Pavard, who is formally still an Inter player but could be bought out and thus leave for good. The French defender moved on loan to Marseille on the last day of the summer transfer window and has not made De Zerbi’s club regret this addition. Pavard is in fact playing at a high level in his homeland and has scored one goal plus 2 assists in his 6 matches between Ligue 1 and the Champions League. In France, they say he is a key player for Marseille and that his arrival from Inter has been excellent for the defensive leadership he has brought to the whole department.
GIACOMO DE PIERI
Someone who still needs to grow and mature to have a good season “among the grown-ups” is Giacomo De Pieri. The young starlet of the last Primavera championship won by Inter moved on loan to Juve Stabia last summer. For the 2006-born attacking midfielder, there have been just 87 minutes so far between Serie B and Coppa Italia: it is clear that, as of today, he still needs to gain experience to compete in the second division, but age is entirely on his side.
Kristjan Asllani
One of Inter’s latest moves was Kristjan Asllani, who after a long summer characterized by many transfer rumors, ended up on loan with an option to buy at Torino. The Torino coach Marco Baroni often relies on the Albanian and has entrusted him with the keys to his team’s midfield. Although he has not yet shone to the fullest in a team struggling at the start of the season, Asllani has made 5 appearances for a total of 412 minutes in Serie A. He has received some criticism from fans and the press for losing the ball too easily when pressed by opponents.
FRANCO CARBONI
Finally, in Serie B there is also Franco Carboni. The left-back (Valentin’s older brother) plays for Empoli, where he immediately established himself as one of the starters chosen by coach Guido Pagliuca, thanks to his physicality (1.90 m) and also his offensive drive, which allows him to make many crosses without forgetting to cover the entire flank. For the Argentine, there are already 6 appearances (5 in the league and one in the Coppa Italia).
