For some days now, there have been intensified rumors about an early departure of six months for Marko Arnautovic. The Inter striker’s contract is in fact expiring at the end of the season but he could say goodbye to his teammates in the next transfer window in January.
His often disappointing performances, coming at the same time as a decent growth of Joaquin Correa, have caused the Austrian to fall in the rankings of coach Simone Inzaghi. For this reason, his departure in the winter transfer market is not such an impractical scenario.
Tuttosport has continued to raise the Torino possibility for Arnautovic for some days. The nerazzurri striker is liked by the granata club which needs to find a forward replacement for Duvan Zapata who is injured until the end of the season. Inter would also be willing to give up the tag of the former Bologna player free of charge in order to make do with the savings of the salary until June and favoring a successful conclusion of the negotiations.
The latest daily update from the Piedmontese newspaper is about the contacts that the Toro’s DT, Davide Vagnati, and Arnautovic‘s agents will have in the coming hours. This could be a decisive week for the success of the deal, the condition that the parties are discussing is a contract valid until 2026 so that the Austrian can guarantee himself one more year in the Serie A.
Compared to his current conditions at Inter, Arnautovic would indeed still earn another season’s salary at the highest levels of the Italian championship. Torino needs a heavy-hitter striker for the second half of the season and is considering this operation. These will therefore be decisive days.
