A few minutes before the kick-off of Venezia–Inter, Chivu made some statements to the microphones of Dazn, explaining his formation choices and the approach to the match.
Regarding the starting midfielder, the Nerazzurri coach expressed confidence in Stankovic: “He deserves it because he is an Inter player, we chose him for this, for what his journey and growth have been over these two years. We all know how valuable he is and what he can give us, today he has a great opportunity from the start and I am sure he will show it.”
Chivu then clarified the situation of Pio Esposito, who initially remained on the bench: “He hasn’t been well these past two days, he wasn’t well on Sunday either, we found out afterwards. He had a fever and a family problem, a bereavement. Fortunately, we have recovered him, today we chose Thuram with Bonny.”
Regarding today’s opponent, the coach dismissed any temptation to underestimate the challenge: “On paper it seems simple, for me it is the most difficult and the most important. They beat Napoli and we know how much Nicola gives to a team when he coaches. We underestimate no one, we are aware that today we have to sweat to bring home the victory.”
