The agreement with John Stones was reached yesterday. The English defender, who was a free agent, will sign a two-year contract worth 4 million net per season. The gross amount will weigh 7.4 million per year on Inter‘s finances, pending official confirmation after the medical examinations.

Although Stones arrived on a free transfer, the club will pay a fee to the player’s agents. According to Calcio e Finanza, the amount will total 3 million. The fee for the player’s entourage will be capitalized, as is done for amounts paid to the selling club for the transfer fee, and amortized over the duration of the contract.

This will result in an additional annual cost of 1.5 million per season, to be added to the 7.4 million gross salary. The deal represents the first defensive reinforcement for the Nerazzurri in this transfer window.
