Sabatini on the Inter-Milan gap after the summer friendlies

The comparison between Inter and Milan returns to the center of the debate on the eve of the new season. Sandro Sabatini, speaking in the SportMediaset studios, analyzed the gap between the two Milanese teams after the recent international friendlies.

The Nerazzurri beat Betis Sevilla 1-0, while the Rossoneri overcame Manchester United with a clear 4-2. Chivu‘s team will restart on the afternoon of the 22nd at San Siro against Monza with the Scudetto on their chest. The Rossoneri, who will not play in the Champions League, will play their first Serie A match against Torino.

Monica Bertini asked Sabatini if Inter is currently the strongest team in Italy and how wide the gap is with Milan, considering the good performance against Manchester. The journalist replied: “Until this afternoon I would have said that the gap was considerable, evident. However, against Manchester the Rossoneri played a match full of good things and good initiatives, especially in the offensive phase.”

Sabatini then highlighted some positive elements that emerged from the Rossoneri’s performance: “There is certainly the rediscovery of two players: Chukwueze and Loftus-Cheek. And then there is the presence of Gonzalo Ramos who provides a powerful and strong point of reference.”

Despite the encouraging signs from Milan, the journalist reiterated: “There is still a big difference between Inter and Milan. Between those who finished first last season and those who finished fifth, if you also consider the other teams, it seems to me that the gap is still the same, in short.”
