Inter Women defeated Newcastle 0-2 in the last summer friendly played at St. James’ Park. The performance convinced David Sassarini, who commented on the match ahead of the first official match of the new season: on Friday the Nerazzurre will take the field in Parma for the first game of the Serie A Women’s Cup.
“The girls played an excellent match in a wonderful stadium and in a beautiful atmosphere,” said the coach. “They responded very well, winning with quality and merit. I am very happy with the work we are doing, we must continue like this.”
The coach appreciated the opportunity to play in a facility of this level: “Definitely beautiful, it has a unique charm and it was a truly high-level match, with a fast pace and low temperatures, with a pitch that allows you to play very quickly: it turned out to be a very beautiful match, I hoped it wouldn’t end because I was having a lot of fun.”
On the preparation path ahead of Friday’s debut, Sassarini added: “I would say we are arriving in good shape, we have worked positively this month even though the team has not yet reached its full potential. We still have to improve but the team did what it had to do, with quality, intensity, and desire. All aspects must be progressively improved with work, but we are already at a good point with what we have done so far.”
