Inter could try to close the deal for Cristian Romero in August, when the financial burden of the operation would be more sustainable. According to La Repubblica, the time variable represents a key element for the Nerazzurri, who would also like to take advantage of the player’s complicated situation at Tottenham, separated from the squad and destined to be sold.
Despite the imminent arrival of John Stones, expected tomorrow in Milan for medical examinations, the Argentine defender remains at the top of Inter’s list of targets. The club wants to complete the restructuring of the defensive department after the departures of Stefan de Vrij, Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi.
The main obstacle remains financial. The Spurs value Romero at 45 million euros, while the player aims to maintain the same salary he receives in London: 6 million euros per season. Figures that, at present, make the deal difficult to achieve.
The Nerazzurri’s strategy is based on patience. Waiting until late August could allow them to reduce the impact of the salary and find more favorable conditions to sign Cuti, thus completing the strengthening of the defense with a player of international experience.
