After Lazio‘s victory, now it’s up to Inter to respond. As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri must beat Venezia to avoid losing the top spot in the standings, but they can also make history in Serie A.
Chivu‘s team has finished the first 8 matchdays with seven wins and one draw, for a total of 22 points: a haul that Inter hasn’t achieved at the start of the season since 2017/18. A win in the afternoon would bring the total to 25 points, a figure that would represent an absolute record in the era of three points for a win, even surpassing the best starts of the seasons in which the Nerazzurri won their last three league titles.
The comparison with last season is clear. After 8 rounds, Inter had 15 points, seven less than today, with already three defeats. This year the pace has been markedly different and none of the other title contenders have managed to keep up, except for Lazio.
At least for one night, according to Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri find themselves chasing. The response is expected in the afternoon.
