With the reopening of the winter transfer market, Inter is considering some possible moves both incoming and outgoing. Due to the limited playing time he has had so far, in fact, in a few weeks the agent of Davide Frattesi could return to the club’s management with a new request for the Italian midfielder to leave.
Compared to the expectations set with Cristian Chivu that convinced him to stay, his playing time has actually dropped under the Romanian coach. Hence, the need for Inter to start exploring the market to evaluate possible replacements, ideally with different characteristics from those of Frattesi.
Chivu, for example, in the summer had looked for a profile like Manu Koné: a muscular midfielder, more about quantity than quality, a ‘ball-winner’ that the coach currently does not have in the squad. Among the candidates, as written by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the top spot at the moment is occupied by Morten Frendrup of Genoa.
The Dane is a valuable utility player for the midfield and fits the profile of a defensive midfielder that Inter needs to improve its defensive phase. Frendrup was last season “the top midfielder in Serie A for tackles won (61), the top for interceptions along with De Roon (47), the top for dribbles intercepted (34), and the top for blocks (46 like Nico Paz).” His valuation is around 20-25 million euros, perfectly within budget for Inter’s spending plans.
