Midweek round for Inter, who trained this morning at Appiano Gentile before leaving by train for Venice. According to Barzaghi on Sky Sport, Chivu has several doubts regarding the lineup, influenced not only by the match against the Venetians but also by the upcoming commitments: the derby with Milan and the away match against Feyenoord.
The main issue concerns Thuram. The Frenchman has played every match since the break and is a key player for the team. His presence is considered particularly important ahead of the derby, which leads the coach to consider whether to give him a rest already against Venezia. “Thuram has played all the games after the break, he is indispensable and is carrying Inter and will be especially important in the upcoming derby,” explained Barzaghi. “It’s true that it’s always three points, so this will be something Chivu will consider until the final decision.”
If the coach chooses to rest him, Esposito and Bonny would start up front, a pair that has only started together once before, in last season’s lost derby. Another option is Stankovic, who could face his brother, Venezia’s goalkeeper, or Sucic, who performed well in the match against Fiorentina.
In defense, Akanji could be given a rest, with Bastoni possibly playing in the center alongside Bisseck and Carlos Augusto. On the flanks, the presence of Spence on the right and Dimarco on the left is being considered. Four young players who were present in the match against Fiorentina have also been included in the squad: Lavelli, Bovio, Jakirovic, and Mosconi. Chivu will resolve all doubts at the moment of the final decision.
