The debate over the missed penalty in Inter–Fiorentina does not end. Speaking to Radio Manà Manà Sport Roma, journalist Riccardo Trevisani commented on the incident involving Marcus Thuram in the second half of the match.
“The Thuram incident? Clear mistake, a black mark, even though Orsato raised the threshold for contact,” declared Trevisani. According to the journalist, the contact was clear enough to justify intervention by both the referee on the field and the VAR room.
“That is a penalty the referee must give, and if he doesn’t, the VAR must. The fact that it wasn’t given, you’ll see, will lead to a suspension for the VAR official. When a mistake is so clear, it’s always more the VAR official’s fault,” he added, indicating the person responsible for video review as the main culprit for the lack of correction.
