The contract of Irene Santi with Inter Women has been extended until 2028. The player explained the reasons for signing in an interview with the club’s official channels: “I am very happy to continue being here. By now I have been wearing this shirt for many years, and every year it is always a great privilege to continue representing these colors.”
The main motivation that led her to stay is clear: “The desire to achieve something even more important with this shirt. Then the sense of home and the sense of belonging that I feel every day when I go to train.”
Santi recalled the most significant moments experienced with the Nerazzurri, starting from the promotion to Serie A after winning the Serie B championship: “We brought home the first trophy, which we then celebrated at San Siro, with the stadium full. More recently, qualifying for the European cups was a wonderful thing for us. It was a goal we had set for ourselves and finally we managed to go play outside of Italy: it is a boost that motivates us more and more.”
The player also spoke about her personal and professional growth: “A lot, both as a person and as a footballer. I suffered a serious injury and this certainly had a huge impact on my personal growth. Both in football and outside of it, because your goals and working methods change, and you have to get back to playing and it is never easy. And also personally because you really need a very strong motivation.”
The prolonged stay at the same club has also brought greater responsibilities: “Being in the same team for many years, in the end, leads you to have responsibilities towards your teammates as well: I am happy to be able to help them express themselves every day. I try to leave them with a sense of belonging to the club.”
