Speaking to SportMediaset, Bastoni commented on Inter‘s defeat in the derby, without looking for excuses: “It wasn’t what we hoped for, we are very disappointed.”
The Nerazzurri defender described a match affected by a difficult start: “We started badly with two situations right at the beginning that set the tone for the game. Then we got back into it and we conceded the 3-1 goal at our best moment, when they had felt the impact of our goal. That really hurt us.”
Asked about the recurring difficulties against Milan, Bastoni identified the problem as the approach: “I can’t say what it is we struggle with against Milan. You can prepare well by watching videos, but then it’s all about attitude and ours wasn’t right. I don’t think it’s the fault of the formation or anything else: we got the attitude wrong, and it wasn’t the right one for nights like this.”
Despite the disappointment, the defender is already looking ahead: “We have too much experience to carry scars with us. We’ll have to analyze what we did wrong, but we need to start again with the right spirit. The season is really long and we play again in just three days.”
