The future of Francesco Acerbi remains an open topic. The agent Federico Pastorello, speaking in the Sky Sport studios, discussed together with the sporting director of Sassuolo Francesco Palmieri the possible return of the defender to the neroverde club after the expiration of his contract with Inter.
Palmieri was cautious: “We are very calm, I often speak with Federico about many players. We’ll see how the negotiations evolve, there are many of them.” The agent replied by illustrating his client’s situation: “Acerbi could be useful to any Serie A club, from the biggest to the smallest. In the last ten years with Lazio and Inter he has had a certain path with league titles won, Coppa Italia victories and Champions League finals, so he has very high expectations despite his advanced age, which I think is legitimate.”
“I know that clubs have their own logic and problems to deal with regarding squad overcrowding, but in managing Acerbi the only thing you shouldn’t have is haste because you risk making rash decisions when in two weeks you could be playing for the title,” added Pastorello. The agent then emphasized the defender’s special bond with the Emilia club: “Then I say that Sassuolo is the only non-top team he would have considered because at Sassuolo he experienced a life change and has wonderful memories. Sassuolo is something special for him.”
