Speaking to Sky Sport, journalist Caputi commented on Inter‘s comeback victory over Fiorentina, starting from Thuram‘s role within the Nerazzurri group. “There is no doubt Thuram is a leader of this team,” he declared. “And then, let’s say, regarding the credit, whether it goes to Chivu or Zidane, the credit also goes to the player, evidently, who has gained more and more experience, year after year, and who has taken the attack on his shoulders.”

The journalist then framed the striker’s importance in the broader context of the team. “He is, I believe, one of the many men who then allow Inter to make the difference,” Caputi added. On the league front, his judgment is clear: “Inter is far stronger than the other teams in our league.”

However, some reservations remain. “They need to work on certain shortcomings that, in the Champions League, when the level rises, become more evident,” he observed. The criticism materialized in the analysis of the day’s match: Inter showed their true potential only after conceding the goal, not before.

“Even today, despite, in my opinion, the dominance was visible, but after conceding the goal. The overwhelming Inter was seen after they conceded. That is, they could have taken the lead earlier, but they react,” Caputi explained. A tendency that in Italy may be tolerable, less so in Europe: “In Italy, in my opinion, they can afford to react. In Europe, it’s more difficult.” The conclusion, however, does not change the overall judgment: “The results and the numbers are indisputable: Inter is the strongest team in our league.”
