The comeback against Fiorentina also left its mark in the Nerazzurri locker room. On social media, Akanji summed up the evening with the same words used by his coach after the match: “We never stopped believing. We fought until the end and were rewarded. Three very important points”, he wrote on Instagram.
A message that reflects the philosophy Chivu has imposed on the group since his arrival. The coach, speaking to DAZN, made his vision clear right after the 2-1 at San Siro: “You must not get discouraged, you need to maintain the same mentality. Since I arrived here, I have always said that matches last 90 minutes, I don’t want to see people feeling sorry for themselves and complaining about some referee decision. I want to see players who react to negative moments”.
The umpteenth comeback of the season confirms that the group has received the message. In addition to technical quality, the team shows that it does not give up before the final whistle, exactly as the Romanian coach asks.
