A legendary Nerazzurri scored the fastest goal in a Madonnina derby history between Inter and Milan. This was Sandro Mazzola, then twenty years old and more importantly at his first Milan derby of his career. It was February 24, 1963, and Inter was leading the championship match after amassing a solid 34 points in the league, compared to their Rossoneri cousins who had only 25 points (with 2 points still awarded for each victory).
The kickoff was given to the team coached by Helenio Herrera, with the very young Mazzola touching the first ball for Di Giacomo. From him to Luisito Suarez, and the release for Corso, who immediately sends forward for Mazzola who plays as a pivot for Suarez. The Spanish player perfectly completes the triangle and again Mazzola in the penalty area strikes Ghezzi for the leading goal just 13 seconds after the start.
The match later ended in a draw due to a goal by Dino Sani in the final quarter of an hour, while it was Inter who ultimately won the eighth Serie A title in their history that season. A team that in the following two seasons would then win two consecutive Champions Cup.
