Cristian Chivu is considering some changes to the lineup ahead of Sunday evening’s away match against Cagliari. The Nerazzurri coach must decide whether to confirm the eleven that convincingly beat Monza in the opener or manage the squad’s energy at the start of the season.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the team that will take the field in Sardinia will probably be similar to the one seen on the first matchday. In midfield, there could be room for Sucic in place of Zielinski, while Curtis Jones is ready to come on during the match. In defense, the possibility of starting either Pavard or Stones from the first minute is being considered.
The choices are more defined in attack. Lautaro was already in the starting lineup in the debut match despite being the last to resume training, and after another week of work his condition will have further improved. The newspaper reports: “If Lautaro was immediately launched among the starters, even though he was the last to resume training, after another week of work his tanks will be even fuller.”
Alongside the captain, Esposito should once again be present. Thuram in fact has, at most, only a portion of the match in his legs and is targeting the big match against Napoli.
