Inter have scored over 100 goals in seven consecutive seasons

Inter has scored more than one hundred goals for seven consecutive seasons, a statistic that highlights the Nerazzurri’s attacking strength during this cycle. The last season in which the team did not surpass this threshold dates back to 2018/19, the second with Spalletti on the bench, as recalled by Corriere dello Sport.

The only player present in all these seasons is Lautaro Martinez, who at the time had just arrived in Italy with the label of a young prospect. That first season served the Argentine to adapt to European football, but already in the following one, with Conte at the helm, he earned a starting spot and broke out. Alongside the Toro, the entire Nerazzurri attacking department also exploded.

No other team has managed to maintain a similar pace during this period. The Nerazzurri attack did not slow down even in the seasons with 48 or 49 official matches, respectively in 2020/21 and 2022/23, when the 100-goal mark was still surpassed. The last two seasons have been record-breaking: never in Inter’s history had they reached 119 goals in a single season.

However, there is a significant difference between the two seasons. In 2024/25, reaching the Champions League final and participating in the Club World Cup, Lautaro and his teammates played as many as 63 matches. The consequence is that the average number of goals in the first season was still below 2 per game (1.89). While in the second, with Chivu on the bench, they played 54 matches, reaching an average of 2.2, the highest ever.

The prospects for the current season are excellent. The league started with a 4-0 win over Monza, and there is room for further improvement of the record. Corriere dello Sport highlights another relevant statistic: the Nerazzurri attack not only scores a lot, but rarely stops. In these seven seasons, out of 377 matches played (about 54 per year), only 43 ended without a goal, that is, 11%. In the remaining 89% of cases, it is as if Inter always started 1-0 up.

Among the protagonists of this cycle stands out Lautaro, scorer of 166 goals out of a total of 763, equal to 22%. The captain has been joined by high-profile partners: Lukaku scored 74 goals in three seasons, Thuram and Calhanoglu have scored 51 each in three and five seasons respectively, while Dzeko contributed 31 goals in two seasons.
