Kevin De Bruyne opened up in a lengthy interview with Corriere dello Sport, touching on various topics related to the Italian league and his new adventure with Napoli. The Belgian gave a clear opinion on the title race, naming the Nerazzurri as the main contenders for the final victory.
According to the midfielder, Napoli can aim for the Scudetto, but Inter remains the top favorite. “I think so, but if I look at the squad and the signings, I believe Inter is the main favorite. We are there with the usual six or seven teams, all close together in no particular order. I think some clubs invest a bit more than us, so it will be a tough race again,” said De Bruyne.
The Belgian also commented on the controversial episode in the last match against Genoa, when he scored the first goal in a dubious situation involving Vasquez. “I think it’s fifty-fifty, it depends on the angle you look at it from: from my side, I was coming from one side and he came towards me. However you want to see it, I was a bit surprised but it’s part of the game. People talk a lot, but I don’t care,” he explained.
Looking ahead to the big match on September 5 between Inter and Napoli, De Bruyne spoke about the possible encounter with his former City teammates, Stones and Akanji. “I know John and Manu very well: I see them on vacation and our families spend time together. It will be nice to see them again, I think they are happy and that’s the most important thing,” he concluded.
