After 28 years, the professional relationship between Piero Ausilio and Inter has come to an end. According to the Corriere della Sera, the separation was due to a lack of agreement on the contract extension.
The executive, tied to the club until 2027 with a salary of 1.3 million euros plus bonuses, was asking for a three-year extension that would allow him to plan a long-term project. From a financial point of view, Ausilio requested an adjustment of about 300 thousand euros, a recognition linked to the recent league triumph and the two Champions League finals reached within 24 months.
The proposal put forward by the club in July, however, included different conditions: extension of the agreement only until 2028 and a salary increase of 100 thousand euros. The decisive meeting was held on Tuesday, during which Piero Ausilio communicated that he would not accept the offer presented. The following day, the contract termination was signed.
In his place, Dario Baccin, already his right-hand man, was promoted to Chief Sport Officer. The newspaper does not rule out that a technical director may be added to the staff in the future.
