The dialogue with Cristian Romero‘s entourage continues, but the figures remain high. Inter continues to monitor the Argentine center-back from Tottenham, who was offered by the London club a couple of weeks ago, but without unlocking a deal complicated by financial demands. The English club is starting from 50 million, while the player earns 6.5 million per year until 2029.
Sporting director Ausilio has initiated contacts with the defender’s agents, but the commissions requested are also very high. The arrival of Stones is currently the top priority, leaving other defensive moves on hold.
A possible departure of Pavard could change the scenario. To make the Romero deal feasible, a lowering of demands would be needed: a proposal of 40 million accepted by Tottenham and a salary for the player not exceeding 5 million, thus in line with Pavard’s. The most likely scenario points to a possible deal in late August, when prices could drop and opportunities could open up for the Frenchman’s sale.
The Argentine is also being followed by other clubs, particularly Barcelona, who must first sell a defender. In the event of Pavard’s departure, the feeling is that the Nerazzurri could turn to a low-cost profile, similar to the Acerbi deal in 2022, but younger.
