Liverpool could play its last card to keep Curtis Jones, but Inter is pressing. According to Tuttosport, the English club is ready to offer the midfielder a contract extension at the end of the transfer window, in an attempt to secure a player who has caught the attention of the Nerazzurri.
The situation, however, remains uncertain. The player’s desire to move to Milan is firm, and this complicates Liverpool’s plans, as they risk losing him on a free transfer if the Englishman refuses the renewal. This is a prospect that could change the dynamics of the negotiation.
On the financial front, the gap between demand and offer has narrowed. Inter’s latest proposal has reached 35 million euros, five less than the British club’s request. This is the third offer presented by the Nerazzurri, a sign of concrete and consistent interest.
Chivu has identified Jones as a priority reinforcement for the midfield, despite the department already having nine players for three starting spots in the 3-5-2. The coach is said to have expressly requested the Englishman in talks with Marotta, Ausilio, and Baccin, and the parallel negotiations for Romero and Moussa Diaby do not seem to have changed this priority. The sale of Akinsanmiro to Monza has not eased the overcrowding, but the interest in Jones remains alive.
