Sporting director Piero Ausilio will arrive today in Donaueschingen, the site of the Nerazzurri’s summer training camp, following the arrival of Dario Baccin. According to Tuttosport, the visit will be an opportunity to discuss the transfer market situation with Cristian Chivu, as there are still several positions to fill.
Among the key departures, only Yann Sommer has been replaced with the arrival of Ivan Provedel. The heir to Dumfries still needs to be identified, as well as reinforcements in central defense after the departures of Acerbi and De Vrij.
A month ago, the coach had indicated three main names: Palestra, Solet, and Curtis Jones. The Palestra deal seemed set before Chelsea entered the race, while the Khalaili option, identified as an alternative, fell through due to the failure to obtain sporting eligibility in Italy.
Solet has gradually dropped off the radar, due to Udinese‘s demands and some doubts about his profile. Jones remains a complicated and non-priority target: Liverpool is unlikely to agree to a sale for less than a total of 40 million, and Inter must first trim the midfield squad.
Now the club must decide how to allocate the budget. Spence is expensive, with costs similar to those expected for Palestra, while Givairo Read would be a promising but still very costly gamble.
