Inter-Arsenal at San Siro impossible: the UEFA rule on draws

A little-known rule of the Champions League could affect the draws scheduled for tomorrow. The same match cannot be played for three consecutive years in the same stadium during the league phase of the European competition.

The regulation was made public by Liverpool with an official statement, announcing that Liverpool-Real Madrid cannot be paired again. However, the reverse fixture, Real Madrid-Liverpool, is possible, with the match to be played at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The rule also directly involves Inter and the possible matchup with Arsenal. The match has already been played at San Siro in both the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 seasons.

If the two teams are paired again in the league phase, the match can only be played in London, at the Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal as the home team. The possibility of Inter-Arsenal at San Siro is therefore impossible for this edition of the competition.
