After two consecutive defeats, defensive balance returns to the center of the discussion. Speaking to Prime Video before the match between Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk, Chivu clearly set the priorities: winning is an obligation, not an option.

“After two defeats, it is mandatory to win, also because we are playing at home and because we have to regain what we have earned over the years,” declared the Nerazzurri coach. On the starting goalkeeper, Chivu replied: “I still don’t understand that. Pepo is Inter’s goalkeeper, he has taken on his responsibilities. Now it’s up to him, but Provedel’s moment will come too.”

On the tactical side, the coach acknowledged that the changes compared to last season have been limited. “From a defensive point of view, compared to last year, we have changed little, maybe some readings and a bit of determination,” he explained. The key issue concerns managing pressure and the phase without possession: “We need to find balance again and understand when to press and take risks.”

Chivu finally pointed the way forward: the work continues, aware that the chosen style of play involves some risk. “The football we want to play also includes mistakes, we just need to regain a bit of focus,” he concluded.
