The penalty that completed the comeback, the mentality of the group, Chivu’s requests: Zielinski answered everything at the microphones of Sky Sport at the end of Inter–Fiorentina. “How heavy did the ball feel for that penalty? A lot, but honestly I can tell you I was quite calm, confident I could score and then celebrate with my teammates for a well-deserved victory for our team.”
On the character shown by the Nerazzurri in coming back in the match, the Polish midfielder pointed to quality and collective confidence as decisive factors. “A great mentality and quality. Confidence in ourselves, in every single moment to be able to change the game and that’s how it was today as well. In the second half we dominated, it was just a matter of time before we scored a goal and then the second one came too.”
On the fact that the spark often comes after going behind, Zielinski did not rule out that it might take more time to get going: “I think so, when we raise the tempo we can create danger with every single action. Chivu asked us to start strong, with intensity, the right mentality and quality, and to direct the matches better and earlier, sometimes it takes more time to get fired up.” Then he concluded: “Let’s enjoy the victory and then focus on Venezia.”
Finally, an assessment of the current squad compared to the previous three years with the Nerazzurri. “In these three years Inter has always been strong and has quality players, many of them. Big names have arrived and the squad is deeper with even more quality. Let’s hope to do great things this season.”
