The new format of the Champions League, initiated this year by UEFA, has not only led to an increase in the number of participating teams and consequently the number of games to be played. The body chaired by Ceferin has also raised the tournament’s revenue to 2.5 billion euros.
Great news for Inter‘s finances which, after the first three rounds, has already secured a substantial prize. According to estimates made by Calcio&Finanza, thanks to the results achieved by Simone Inzaghi‘s team in the first three games, the black and blue club has already significantly approached the total amount collected last year with reaching the round of 16.
Last season, without considering box office proceeds, participation up to the round of 16 – where Inter was eliminated by Atletico Madrid – altogether earned the black and blue club just over 65 million euros. This year, considering only the three games played in the single ranking phase, Inter has already won at least 55.18 million euros.
This amount comes from the 18.62 million participation bonus, 24.02 from the European share, 7.36 from the non-European share, in addition to the results bonus which at this point amounts to 4.9 million. To these is also calculated the ranking position bonus that in the worst case scenario last place would bring 275 thousand euros.
A figure, therefore, bound to increase into the next matches, noting that this year victories are worth 2.1 million and draws 700 thousand euros.
