Inter’s U23 team, as we have been reporting for weeks, is becoming a reality. Over the recent months, the Nerazzurri club has intensified its efforts, particularly focusing on assembling a team comprised mostly of talented youth from its own academy, as well as from elsewhere, as they continue the search to find out who will be named the new coach to lead Inter’s second team.
Meanwhile, as he has already done previously on a number of occasions, Beppe Marotta officially confirmed that the club will soon submit a formal application for the team’s enrolment in next year’s Serie C championship. Speaking live to the microphones of Radio Anch’Io Sport, the Inter CEO expressed optimism regarding the upcoming steps.
These were his words: I was a strong advocate of this idea already when I was at Juventus. I consider the U-23 team a fundamental channel for successfully integrating young players into the first team. Besides, the step between U-19 and senior first-team football is still too wide, so we need an intermediate team. We too will submit our application in due course to the federation to participate in next season’s Lega Pro championship.
