Two gems, Filip Stankovic and Gaetano Oristanio, who were both born in 2002, have grown up in Inter’s youth sector and are having a great season with Venezia. Both had similar careers, sharing the youth team of Inter entirely.
Before starting to shine, both the goalkeeper and the fantasist were sent on a two-year loan to Volendam in the Netherlands, where they showed impressive growth before returning to Italy. While Stankovic had to take an additional step in Serie B with Sampdoria before achieving the top division, Oristanio managed to immediately win Serie A during his loan to Cagliari.
Last summer, they both returned to Appiano Gentile and were convinced by Venezia’s sporting project – which, upon its return to Serie A, decided to invest in the best young talents in the championship, led by coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
Both Stankovic and Oristanio had extremely positive impacts: the goalkeeper soon became an indisputable starter due to his giant performances, and the attacking midfielder, quickly becoming irreplaceable, has recorded interesting numbers with two goals and three assists to his name.
Stankovic’s development has been curtailed by a serious injury incurred in a match against Udinese on February 1st. It is a partial injury of the patellar tendon that will keep the Serbian defender out for about two and a half months. Inter’s Ionut Radu became the solution for Venezia’s goalkeeping problem.
Many Inter fans are wondering whether the club will have the chance to re-purchase these two promising ex-Inter players in the future. In regards to this, we have exclusive information gathered by our team about the formulas Inter used to sell these two talents.
Starting with Gaetano Oristanio, who was sold by Inter to Venezia permanently for around 4 million euros in July. Inter has not retained any buyback rights for the 2002-born player, but does have a percentage on the future resale. This means that if Inter would want to bring back Oristanio, they would have a discount on the transfer fee related to the percentage retained.
As for Filip Stankovic, his case is different; he is currently on loan with an obligation to buy in case of survival. However, Venezia managed to secure a buyback option by the end of this season for around 2 million euros. Despite his serious injury, the club has every intention of exercising this option. In this case, as with Oriastaniom, Inter would retain a substantial percentage on the future resale, but no buyback option.
