The announcement of the establishment of a World Club Tournament to be played for a month during the summer was news met with little enthusiasm in Europe by fans of big clubs engaged all winter long. Despite the inconvenience this may cause for the teams in terms of schedule, the tournament is a great opportunity to earn considerable sums.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the FIFA is trying to gather a huge budget from sponsorships, TV rights, tickets, and other commercial deals for this event in June and July 2025. The goal of President Gianni Infantino was to raise about 2 billion dollars but now it seems unreachable, though it won’t be too far off based on current estimates.
The 32 participating clubs will share a total of 800 million dollars: each club will receive about 20 million just for participating, an amount that will help boost the coffers of the participating clubs which will be able to reflect this extra income in their budget.
Moving forward in the World Club Tournament, however, will raise this revenue even further because just by reaching the last sixteen a goal fully within the reach of Lautaro and his teammates, the figure rises to 25/30 million, and the further you go, the better it will be from an economic point of view for the delight of the club’s coffers.
