Speaking to Sky Sport, former Inter coach Pioli talked about the Nerazzurri, focusing in particular on Lautaro Martinez, who was absent in the derby lost 3-1 against Milan.

The coach drew a clear distinction between the two versions of the team: “There is an Inter with Lautaro and an Inter without Lautaro.” According to Pioli, having a player of his level on the pitch represents “the luck of any coach,” because the Nerazzurri captain always gives the impression of being involved in the match, fighting for every ball with emotion, passion, and determination.

“I believe that a captain like this is the luck of any coach, because having such a player on the field, who always gives the impression of being in the game, fighting for every ball, experiencing the match with that emotion, with that passion, with that determination to try at all costs to help the team… Truly a player whom I have always, as an opponent, greatly admired,” declared the former coach.

During his remarks, Pioli also expressed words of appreciation for Jones: “I like him a lot too. And he is a mezzala, a midfielder, an all-rounder, up and down, with great stamina and also good technique. He is a player who will be very useful to Inter.”
