Emiliano Viviano gave an interview to TMW in which he spoke about the title race, with Inter indicated as the favorite but without excluding other contenders. The former goalkeeper expressed his point of view on the current season and on some figures linked to the Nerazzurri world.
According to Viviano, the Nerazzurri start ahead of everyone in the race for the title, as even the main players themselves admit. Roma, however, represents a real threat: “They are strong, the coach is phenomenal, they made great signings, there is enthusiasm. It’s good that they are keeping a low profile, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them as Champions of Italy,” he declared.
The former goalkeeper then spoke very highly of Cristian Chivu, his former teammate. “I had no doubts. A good person. But above all, he knows how to be part of the group, he knows how to earn the players’ trust, he is loyal. And then he is a great coach, you have to be able to prove it,” he stated. Viviano also emphasized how the coach was good at carrying forward his own ideas after inheriting an excellent management that had reached two Champions League finals. “The results prove him right, I like the way he speaks. He doesn’t hide. Excellent.”
Finally, an enthusiastic judgment on Pio Esposito, to whom he gave a score of 10. “Humility, ability to be part of the team, to adapt to the style of football. Besides being talented, he is the kind of guy who is an example for others,” he explained. According to the former goalkeeper, the young striker will become the center forward of the National Team and won’t let it go to his head.
