Curtis Jones will be the next English signing to take the field. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Liverpool player has earned Chivu‘s trust after just a few training sessions at Appiano Gentile and will be called up for the match against Cagliari on Sunday, valid for the second round of Serie A.

The midfielder has surprised the entire Nerazzurri technical staff thanks to the regular training he did at Liverpool, which has ensured him optimal physical condition. At Appiano, they immediately realized that no special athletic recalls are needed. After sitting in the stands against Monza, his first call-up will arrive and, in all likelihood, his debut in Sardinia.

The Nerazzurri coach wants to introduce the new signings according to different schedules, precisely to gradually bring the team closer to the pace of the English league. The starting physical condition of the players is different, and this requires diversified timing for their integration. Jones will start from the bench against Cagliari, but his entry will not be secondary: Chivu intends to give him a significant portion of the field, depending on how the match develops.

John Stones will also start from the bench on Sunday, despite having already made his debut at San Siro against Monza with fifteen minutes on the pitch to get acquainted with the new Nerazzurri world. In Cagliari, his playing time may increase, while in the background remains the competition with Akanji, his former teammate at Manchester City. In the Champions League, Jones will meet the team of his life again at San Siro on January 19, in the penultimate round of the maxi-group stage.
