Aleksandar Stankovic has returned to Inter with the intention of convincing Cristian Chivu and earning a place in the Nerazzurri squad. The Serbian midfielder knows the environment and feels a strong bond with the club where he grew up. After experiences away from Milan, he has come back with a different set of skills and the determination to seize his opportunities in the first team.

The club does not consider him just a youngster to develop for the market. The idea is to observe him closely to understand if he can be an immediate technical resource. During the first days of training camp, Stankovic was also tried in front of the defense, a position he already knows and in which he could become an alternative to Hakan Calhanoglu.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the next friendly against Karlsruhe could offer a first concrete test in that role. Chivu wants to evaluate his timing, quality in ball management, and ability to lead the play from a deeper position. The Serbian, however, remains a versatile midfielder and can also be used further forward, thanks to his ability to make runs into the box.

The seasons spent elsewhere have contributed to his growth. He has accumulated minutes, responsibilities, and international experience, improving especially in consistency and personality. Now he wants to use the training camp to prove he is ready for the definitive step up.

His staying would also have important value for the future. Inter would have a young player at home, raised in the youth sector and capable of covering multiple roles. For Chivu, therefore, Stankovic can become more than just a simple summer alternative. The training camp will serve to understand if the Serbian can really start to take the keys to the Nerazzurri midfield.
