The Inter women’s team wraps up a week full of satisfaction. After qualifying for the Women’s Champions League, David Sassarini’s team secured a spot in the semifinals of the Serie A Women’s Cup by beating Lazio 3-1.
Speaking to Inter TV, Sassarini summed up the performance: “A fantastic week comes to an end, and this match could have been a trap because we spent so much energy against Wolfsburg. We did well; in this heat, if you keep the ball more, you have a better chance of winning. In the first twenty minutes, they had more legs and scored a great goal from 35 meters, but as the match went on, we kept the ball more and took control of the game.”
The Nerazzurri coach then explained the tactical approach adopted by the team: “The idea is to keep the ball as much as possible, then we have other weapons depending on the opponent’s formation: if they press us high, we try to go over the top; if they wait for us, we try to pin them in their own half. Today the girls played well; when I make changes on the field, the important thing is always to have the same attitude—there’s no team A or team B.”
Looking to the future: “Now we head to the draw thinking that we want to reach the final of this competition.”
