Leeds United has officially announced the arrival of Muharemovic from Sassuolo. The Bosnian central defender, who had long been followed by Inter, moves to England with a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The deal represents the English club’s second permanent signing in this summer transfer window, following the arrival of Harry Wilson. The twenty-three-year-old leaves Serie A after a positive season with the neroverdi, which ended in eleventh place in the standings.
Standing 193 centimeters tall, the center-back began his career in Austria with Wolfsberger AC in the top division. After just six matches, he attracted the interest of several European clubs, including Juventus, who secured his services. In Turin, he made further progress in his development, also becoming a player for the Bosnian senior national team.
In August 2024, he moved on loan to Sassuolo, scoring his first goal in his second match. The season turned out to be exceptional: winning the Serie B championship and promotion to the top division, with 30 total appearances that led to a permanent transfer. Last season, he made 33 appearances in all competitions.
Internationally, the defender boasts 17 caps with Bosnia and Herzegovina, having participated in the UEFA Nations League, World Cup qualifiers, play-offs, and the final stage of this summer’s World Cup tournament.
