A possible tactical clue, considering also his use in front of the defense with Poland? Inzaghi talked about it post-game, interviewed by DAZN, giving a very clear answer.

Zielinski is a midfielder who came in well, he has a lot of quality and he will give us a lot. After the little problem in the summer he has come back well. I am satisfied. Defensive midfielder? I like him as a midfielder, then with Calhanoglu and Asllani we are already covered in that role.
