Guest of DAZN for the usual post-match interview, Simone Inzaghi commented on Inter’s grey performance against Monza, with defeat avoided in the end thanks to a goal from Dumfries.
Here are his words:
PERFORMANCE – “The approach was good. We created a lot in the first 20 minutes, we should have been able to unlock it. Even last year the match was similar, but we had unlocked it immediately. Dimarco’s ball and Lautaro’s are important opportunities. Then we were slow to rotate the ball and we had quality in the last pass where we had to try to shoot and we tried to hole. We were less lucid than usual. Then Monza defended low and played a good game. We had to be better. Then in the second half we were a little slow and at the moment when we seemed to have more and we were with 3 attackers and we took a goal. We had to do better technically, but we took a goal. Then I take the reaction, we were good at drawing. We are sorry, but we move on”.
FRATTESI-ASLLANI – “Frattesi and Asllani did well, they did what they had to do. We wanted the victory and probably we deserved it, but congratulations to Monza who played a substantial match and never gave up”.
“The trident? We had already done it in Genoa in the last 25 minutes, today the last 20. They moved well. I had everyone away, except Correa, but they committed. For attackers these games are not easy”.
DIMARCO – “Dimarco was tired at the end, but I had run out of substitutions. He only had cramps”.
ZIELINSKI – “Zielinski is a midfielder who came in well, he has a lot of quality and will give us a lot. After the little problem in the summer he is back well. I’m satisfied. Defensive midfield? I like him as a midfielder, then with Calhanoglu and Asllani we are already covered in that role”.
