Thursday will be the day of the draw for the single group stage of the Champions League, with Inter ready to find out their opponents. The Nerazzurri are aiming for redemption after last season’s elimination in the playoffs against Bodo/Glimt.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will be in the first pot of the draw along with eight other teams: PSG, Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico, Arsenal, City and Liverpool. Their presence among the top seeds is the result of the 2023 and 2025 finals.
The lesson from last year against the Norwegians has been learned and even Chivu is different a year later.
The Milanese newspaper highlights how Inter’s squad is now deep enough to field practically two competitive lineups. The second team, according to the paper, would compete in Serie A for the European spots. This squad strength makes the double commitment less burdensome, so much so that rotation with Esposito, Sucic and Stones almost seems like a paradox.
While acknowledging the strength of the English and Spanish teams, historically more decorated, La Gazzetta points out that from City to Liverpool there are some signs that Inter could take advantage of.
