Fabio Capello did not spare criticism for Inter after their victory over Monza. Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former coach expressed strong disappointment with what he saw in the first half.
“I thought they were already further ahead, they need to find the right mentality,” declared Capello. “Chivu’s team was very poor in the first half, lacking the right concentration and the necessary speed against an opponent that, on paper, should have been easy to beat.”
The former coach acknowledged a reaction in the second part of the match: “In the second half, after the second goal, we saw something more, but Inter needs to become more determined again.” The Nerazzurri team continues to raise doubts for Capello, who emphasizes that the team still needs to find the right mental balance.
Speaking about the other matches of the day, the coach also commented on Como-Udinese and Napoli-Genoa. Como showed difficulties against the aggressiveness of Udinese in an intense match, highlighting the lack of a center forward. “Fabregas’ men have ambition, but it remains to be seen what role they will play in Serie A: everyone will face Como giving 110% because they are no longer a surprise.”
On Napoli, Capello observed: “Allegri’s team suffered from the pressing applied by Genoa, but as soon as the pace dropped, their quality emerged, which was combined with some of the coach’s intuition with the substitutions.”
