The desire of Icardi to return to Inter has never been in doubt. This was clarified by Romano, who on his YouTube channel reviewed the situation of the Argentine striker and the issue of the fifth forward, which has become highly relevant after the offensive emergency experienced by the club in recent weeks.

According to the journalist, Icardi’s intention is unequivocal: “That he wants to return to Italy and to Inter, there is no doubt. He is very attached to the club, he said so himself.” Romano also recalled that last January the striker was ready to accept Juventus, but it was the Bianconeri club that blocked the deal.

On the Nerazzurri front, however, the position has always been the opposite. “Both in the summer and in September, Inter never considered bringing him back to Milan,” Romano explained. “There was never a real negotiation, the Nerazzurri club always closed the door, because they felt they were fine with these four strikers.”

The issue of the fifth forward remains open. Romano recalled that Inter had considered a few profiles in the summer, then chose not to proceed so as not to make a signing that did not meet certain requirements. “They didn’t want a traditional number nine, but if anything, a fifth forward with different characteristics,” he specified. Coach Chivu stated that the situation will be evaluated, after the club found itself having to deal with Bonny, Pio Esposito, and Lautaro all unavailable at the same time. “The emergency of these days gives pause for thought,” Romano concluded. “We will see the final decision of the club and the coach.”
