The training camp in Germany marks the concrete start of Cristian Chivu‘s work on the Nerazzurri bench. After months first marked by the handover with Simone Inzaghi and then by the intense commitments of the Club World Cup, the coach can finally devote himself to continuous and structured preparation. The choice of Donaueschingen is not accidental: Chivu knows the area well, having spent part of his playing career there.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, this preparation represents the opportunity to shape the team according to his own ideas, with fewer distractions and more time on the pitch compared to last summer. A year ago, Inter was coming off a very long season, with little room for planning. Between travel, international commitments, and tight schedules, the preparation was inevitably affected. Further complicating the restart were the lost final against PSG and the much-discussed departure of Inzaghi.
This time, the group will have more space to train consistently, with double sessions, physical work, and the development of new playing principles. The training camp will also be an opportunity to closely observe several players who will have to earn a place in the new Inter. Not all starters will be available right away: some players involved until the end of the World Cup will return later, while others will join the team in the following stages. Among the first to rejoin should be Calhanoglu, while for Lautaro and Thuram it will take longer.
In the meantime, Chivu will work with those already present, including some young players and new arrivals who will have the chance to showcase themselves. The preparation in Germany will also serve to correct some of the shortcomings that emerged last season and to set up a team capable of competing on multiple fronts. The goal is clear: to start strong, immediately find consistency, and defend the successes achieved. After a summer spent between emergencies and continuous commitments, there is finally time to build.
