According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Bonucci spoke about the title race, his future as a coach, and Bastoni during a talk organized by Iliad in Lissone, at the Var house. The occasion was the presentation of “Win the Stadium with Iliad.”

On the ambitions of the top teams, the former defender was direct: “For the title, Inter are the favorites; for the Champions League, Barcelona and Psg are ahead of everyone.” On his own future, he declared: “At 30, I realized that I would like to coach; one day I would like to lead Juventus and, who knows, maybe even the National Team. I will be a coach who likes to play attractive football, but if necessary, I can also be results-oriented.”

Bonucci then focused on the role of modern defenders, claiming a certain primacy: “I like to see that today’s defenders try to build up play; in some way, I feel like a pioneer. My experience as a midfielder in the youth sectors helped me a lot, whereas today there are many center-backs with those kinds of characteristics.”

The player who reminds him most of himself, in his opinion, is the Nerazzurri: “Bastoni is the one who resembles me the most.” After Zenica, Bonucci was close to him in a difficult moment: “I explained to him that in certain situations it’s important to set new goals and not think about what’s happening around you.” The assessment of the defender’s growth is positive: “Ale has grown a lot in terms of leadership and communication and has started again as a protagonist in the new era with Mancini.”
