Nicolò Barella spoke to the microphones of Sky Sport on the eve of the Nations League match between Italy and Turkey. The Inter midfielder touched on several topics, from the current state of the National Team to his role in the Azzurri group.
“It has been a long training camp, with many matches, but these are commitments we must honor in the best way. The match against France especially showed that Italy wants to find itself again, that it has personality. We need to start again with enthusiasm,” declared Barella.
About coach Roberto Mancini, the Nerazzurri player had words of praise: “He is always the same, he really enjoys working with the players. He freed our minds from the difficulties we have faced in recent years, but everything must start from our own minds.”
The midfielder then commented on Donnarumma’s situation: “When things go badly you feel responsible, you have to find the strength within yourself. Watching the World Cup from home was not easy, but you have to move forward with your head held high.”
Finally, a reflection on his playing time and recent benchings: “In recent years I have always played a lot, but this is a team sport. Italy is not Barella, this is a group that is doing well and I make myself available to the coach.”
